Parking woes

SOUTHWOLD'S parking woes. Those of us who have been here long enough have heard it all before.

No doubt a few more lines, maybe even another silly roundabout, and then all forgotten about for another few years.

SOUTHWOLD'S parking woes. Those of us who have been here long enough have heard it all before.

No doubt a few more lines, maybe even another silly roundabout, and then all forgotten about for another few years.

May I suggest that the town and county councillors consider the need of local residents; by local I mean those who live and support local businesses 12 months a year.

As we all know parking in Southwold has, and will, continue to worsen; we even have areas which have become gridlocked in the summer months.

Seeing that county and town councillors are elected on the understanding to represent local people and their needs a solution is very easy to come by. Residential parking permits to all residents of the town who requires one.

Areas adjacent to households could be defined by red road markings.

To finance the scheme the entire length of North Parade east side should be pay and display as is done on many other seaside resorts, all revenue going to the town council who in turn pays the county council.

Any local person wishing to spend time on the sea front could display a residential parking permit.
