He states “responsible cycling on the footpath is not a big issue, we could have skateboards and roller skates.”

Almost every day I have cyclists whizzing past me from behind, coming towards me from in front as if they were on the road.

I have nearly been knocked over by cyclists racing around blind corners and I regularly see them cycling down the High Street on the wrong side of the road.

If Mr Clarke can find these “responsible cyclists” he is lucky, and I speak as a former cyclist. Any attempt to comment on this results in foul language or being ignored.

Perhaps Mr Clarke did not hear the case of a woman who was killed by a pavement cyclist recently.

Unfortunately it has happened since cycle paths were introduced, but now it has gone too far. Pavements are for pedestrians, not cyclists.
