THIS spectacular array of 26 photographs represents the second batch of winners of The Journal's Picture of the Week competition.

Each image beat stiff competition to win the weekly prize and now the talented photographers have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Carl Baldry, of Pinewood Avenue, Lowestoft, and be crowned a champion of champions.

Mr Baldry's image of a tiger at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens was the worthy winner six months ago and as a result he picked up a copy of his photograph in a 12in x 18in photoblock worth £130 from Picture Studios, of London Road North, Lowestoft.

All of these winners have already won their image in a 12in x 10in frame worth more than £60, but now they need your votes if they are to walk away with the top prize.

Amongst those to have won over the last six months are adorable animals, luscious landscapes and airshow acrobatics.

And this selection also includes this week's winner Elizabeth Harvey, from Gorleston, who captured these young birds in a nest box on her allotment which was made by her nephew when he was at school. He is now 36 and it was the first time anything had nested in it. There were 11 chicks in all and each and every one of them fledged successfully.

So whether it's Elizabeth's, Karen Read's image of her daughter Maria jumping for joy, double winners Yvonne Adamski and Bob Fallon's close-up views on nature, or any of the other stunning winners that stands out for you, now is the chance to have your say.

To vote for your favourite simply pick out one of the images number 1 to 26 and email russell.cook@archant.co.uk or fill in the entry form and send it to Journal Photo Competition, The Journal, 147 London Road North, Lowestoft, NR32 1NB. The closing date for votes is Friday, October 17, and no photocopies will be accepted.

Meanwhile, we are accepting images for next week's competition. They must be taken by amateur photographers, and we would prefer the pictures to be digital and between 500KB and 1MB in size. We also accept prints, but they need to be copies as we cannot guarantee their return.

To enter, send your picture with your name, address and contact details to richard.wood@archant.co.uk, marking your email Journal Photo Competition.

Prints can be sent to Picture of the Week, The Journal, 147 London Road North, Lowestoft NR32 1NB.

All photos entered can be seen at www.lowestoftjournal24.co.uk
