It is a fun, fast-paced paddle sport, which is proving a 'smash hit.'
And Pickleball has hit Lowestoft – as it attracts new recruits to the ever-growing sport.
Tom Tucker is currently running an introductory Pickleball course, under the auspices of the Lowestoft O-Go-Go fitness and fun programme, at Waterlane Leisure Centre. He said: 'Pickleball is a great fun sport with many elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels.
'The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn and enjoy. It can be played both indoors and outdoors on badminton sized court and a slightly modified tennis net. It is a smash hit in the USA where it originated but has spread to many more countries and is now taking off in the UK.'
If you are looking for something new then why not give this crazy game a try. Lowestoft O-Go-Go are currently running Pickleball sessions on Wednesday evenings at the Waterlane Leisure Centre in Lowestoft from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The first session is free and subsequent sessions are only £2 each and all the equipment is provided. Visit www.lowestoftoggo.org.uk for details.
