More details have emerged about an incident in Beccles in which two men threatened the occupants of a property with weapons and stole a quantity of cash.

Police are renewing appeals for help in tracing the men who got into a home in Laurels End in the town at around 10.30am yesterday .

One of the occupants at the address - a 16-year-old boy - answered the door to two men who initially claimed to be railway workers.

The men then barged past him into the property, awoke another resident at the address - a 59-year-old man - and demanded he hand over cash.

Both men then produced weapons, which appeared to be handguns and a stun-type device, and made threats. The noise brought a third occupant at the property - an 18-year-old woman - out to see what was happening.

The two men then assaulted the 16-year-old boy and the 59-year-old man before forcing the 59-year-old to hand over a quantity of cash. The two offenders both fled after the 59-year-old managed to escape the property and raise the alarm. The 59-year-old sustained grazing to his shoulder in the incident.

The offenders are described as black, aged in their 30s, with short cropped hair and wearing fluorescent yellow jackets. One was around 5ft 11ins tall, of large/stocky build while the other was shorter and of slim build.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the men in the town yesterday, or anyone who may have seen them travelling into or around the area. Anyone with information should call Beccles CID on 01986 835300.
