Officers are appealing for information after firefighters were forced to deal with two bush fires in the space of half an hour.

Fire crews were called to a gorse and undergrowth fire at Corton Road, in Lowestoft, at around 3pm on Tuesday, May 15. The blaze was dealt with and was not thought to be suspicious.

However, about half an hour after leaving the scene, the fire service was called back to another gorse fire within 50ft of the original incident.

Fire officers believe the second fire is unlikely to have been caused as a result of the original fire and have therefore deemed it to be an incident of arson.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour or has knowledge about the fires should contact Suffolk Police on 101, quoting crime number 26535/18. Alternatively, you can call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
