A police motorbike was involved in a collision as it escorted an abnormal load through Norfolk and Suffolk yesterday.

Drivers had been warned to expect delays as a 44 tonne frame was escorted from EMR, Atlas Works in Lenwade, through to Peterson Commerical Road in Lowestoft.

But as the escort reached Cotmer Road in Lowestoft, the motorbike and a blue Mercedes-Benz collided.

The front seat passenger in the car suffered pain to her left leg and shoulder, while the motorcyclist suffered no injuries and no ambulance was required.

Suffolk Police were called to the incident at 2.40pm on Monday, April 8 and a recovery vehicle was sent to remove the motorbike from the road.
