POLICE are stepping up patrols in the seafront area of Lowestoft after a number of criminal damage and anti-social behaviour incidents in recent weeks.

Earlier in the summer officers received complaints about anti-social behaviour going on at Kensington Gardens and in the surrounding area. Work was carried out to target this and the problems subsided, however officers are now aware of further problems and will be carrying out additional patrols and taking other steps to try to tackle the issues.
PC Claire Simons, from the Lowestoft Central Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: 'During the past few weeks we have become aware of a number of incidents - criminal damage to beach huts, damage in Kensington Gardens, and at other locations in this area of the town, and reports of nuisance behaviour.
'We don't want things to escalate again and therefore will be targeting our patrols to this area and dealing with any instances of anti-social behaviour robustly.
'A number of youths have already had warning letters and we will be looking at measures that can be taken, including Anti-Social Behaviour Orders if required,' she added.
'We are working with the council to concentrate on addressing issues in the area and would ask anyone who sees disorderly or criminal behaviour to call us, using 999 if damage is being committed, noting a description of those involved.'
