POLICE have issued a warning to cyclists urging them to remember to lock up their bikes when leaving them unattended after a spate of thefts in Lowestoft.

Officers are seeking witnesses after five pedal cycles were stolen between Friday, November 19 and Monday, November 22.

A ladies silver tourer cycle, with a black basket on the front and black tape on the handlebars, and a girls purple cycle, with two bells on the handlebars and a white rear mudguard with a pink design on, were both taken from the front garden of a home in Europa Road between 10am that Friday and 8.20am on Monday.

A girls purple and white mountain bike with white handgrips was stolen from another garden in the same road between 11pm on Saturday, November 20 and 9.45am on Sunday, November 21 and a ladies blue bike, also with a black basket on the front, and a girls bright pink bike were taken from a garden at Churchill Close between 1pm on the Saturday and 5pm on the Monday.

'Police believe the bikes may have been loaded into a van but are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or anyone who has any information about who took the bikes or where they are now to call PCSO Vincent at Lowestoft police station on 01986 835300,' a police spokesman said.
