POLIO PLEA: A campaign backed by the Lowestoft's Rotarians will get a major boost tomorrow.

Rotary clubs across the UK are urging people to back Polio Plus as part of a drive to eradicate the disease worldwide. And in Lowestoft tomorrow, representatives of the three local Rotary clubs will be joining forces with Lowestoft Inner Wheel to collect at major stores in the town. Members will be at the Britten Centre and at the following stores: ASDA; B&Q; Co-op Ashburnham Way; Godfreys; Palmers; QD London Road North; Tesco London Road North; Westgate and Wilkinsons.

With money helping to fund polio immunisation for all children under the age of five in endemic and high risk countries, this photograph shows a child in in Uttar Pradesh, India, being immunised. 'Please help Rotary to make this last effort,' John Hunt, the immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Lowestoft, said. 'Look out for local Rotarians and Inner Wheelers and the logo, and help fill their buckets.' Organisers have expressed their thanks to the Lowestoft stores for allowing the collections to take place tomorrow - and hopes are high that they will top the 1300 was raised last year.
