I AM slightly confused why Peter Aldous, Conservative parliamentary candidate for Waveney, in his recent free publication Waveney Matters, takes the view that Labour is costing us money when Waveney District Council, under Tory leadership, has consistently underperformed.

I AM slightly confused why Peter Aldous, Conservative parliamentary candidate for Waveney, in his recent free publication Waveney Matters, takes the view that Labour is costing us money when Waveney District Council, under Tory leadership, has consistently underperformed.

Obviously this equates to a failure to deliver local services effectively and efficiently and puts pressure on the future ability of the council to deliver some services or to support community projects, etc.

I note that Mr Aldous makes no criticism of the Tory-led council in his publication suggesting that his political and central government affiliations are more important than the interests of the local community for which he is seeking electoral support. Similarly, it is also curious that Mark Bee, the Tory leader of the council, appears to be so energetic about keeping Lowestoft in Suffolk but has failed, over several years, to simply reinstate a town sign which, you might consider, relatively inexpensive but a prerequisite for someone so passionate about Lowestoft.

Guess a town sign is less likely to affect his future job prospects though.
