I WOULD like to thank the Poppy Appeal team and the people of Lowestoft for making the 2007 appeal so successful and topping £24,000. The efforts of the team are reflected in this figure.

The Royal British Legion uses the appeal funds to help serving and ex-service people and their dependants. Lowestoft has the highest input of welfare help from the Royal British Legion, in Suffolk.

Should anyone be interested in helping with the Poppy Appeal this year please write to County Office, at 3 Hillside Business Park, Kempson Way, Bury St Edmunds, IP32 7EA, giving name address and telephone number. The more people involved and the earlier the planning the better we can do.

There is always a need for voluntary caseworkers so if you would be interested in this rewarding role please contact our county office on 01284 725833. Similarly should anyone need help from the Royal British Legion contact county office and a visit by a voluntary caseworker will be arranged.

The Lowestoft Branch of the British Legion has a new committee and meets at St Mark's Church Hall, Oulton Broad, at 2pm, on the first Monday of the month starting on January 7. Everyone is welcome.
