Popular Pakefield fund-raiser Zoiyar Cole has been kept busy with her latest challenge.

With the help and support of fellow fund-raiser Janet Ellis, Mrs Cole has raised more than £311,000 for deserving charities in the past 16 years through the Paul Cole Cancer Fund, which was set up in memory of Zoiyar's son, who tragically died from liver cancer aged just 35.

Mrs Cole has embarked on her latest fund-raiser in recent weeks – which has seen her team up with friends to create more than 650 Easter chicks and baskets – complete with a chocolate egg – in time for Easter.

The hand-knitted chicks and baskets, and sweet treat, are still being sold for £1 in shops across Lowestoft.

'They have gone really well, and we still have about 150 left,' Mrs Cole said. 'I had three of my friends knit the chicks, and I crocheted all the baskets – everyone has been so kind and supportive.'

They can be bought at Rosedale Surgery, Beales department store, Claremont Pier, Coconut Loft in Kirkley, M R King and sons, Spring Tide restaurant, the Spar post office at Pakefield and Pakefield caravan park.

Mrs Cole and Mrs Ellis will be holding a car boot sale at Pakefield Church hall in April, with raffle prizes being sought. If you can help, email zoiyar@icloud.com
