With about 50 scarecrows of all shapes and sizes on display during Reydon’s sixth annual scarecrow trail earlier this month, around £1,600 was raised in aid of this year’s Reydon Christmas lights switch-on.

The popular bi-annual festival on September 9-10 attracted a good turnout as visitors made their way around the displays, which could be found at the village hall and in people’s front gardens.

With members of the public casting their votes for the best creation, the favourite scarecrow could be found in Covert Road – as Old Ginger evoked memories of yester-year.

Event organiser Brenda Doy said: “About £1,600 was raised and we were thrilled to bits. It was a really brilliant weekend. The favourite scarecrow was created by Caroline and Ernest Barnes, of Old Ginger, which brought back quite a lot of memories.”
