A GROUP of young people from Lowestoft with aspirations to go into the world of media have been rewarded for their efforts during a training project.

Street Level Media was a 10- week pilot based at the Seagull Theatre in Pakefield, overseen by Norwich company Eye Film and Television.

Eight people were given the chance to learn about television presenting, producing, directing, camera operating, sound recording and editing by producing short films about the community of Lowestoft.

During a presentation evening on Thursday last week the group was invited along with family and friends to see the results of their videos and to gain insight into how they fared.

The project has been funded with £70,000 from Lowestoft Together and among the films shot were a look inside Gunton Baptist Church and the work of Fen Park Friends.

The team at Eye are now in the process of filling out other application forms for a variety of funders so that a group of six young people can produce one half-hour programme a week for six months to be broadcast on IPTC internet across Lowestoft.
