COLOURFUL floats, marching bands and fancy dress characters will bring some summer fun to Lowestoft when the town's annual carnival parade takes place on Sunday.
COLOURFUL floats, marching bands and fancy dress characters will bring some summer fun to Lowestoft when the town's annual carnival parade takes place on Sunday.
The procession, filled with music and entertainment, will leave Kirkley Park Road at 3pm and make its way along London Road South, over the bascule bridge and past the railway station before finishing on Katwijk Way.
Floats decorated by local businesses and community groups will be interspersed with music from six marching bands, including the Wellingborough Redwell Carnival Band, the Long Eaton Militaires and the upbeat sounds of Suffolk Samba.
The Waveney Valley Brass Ensemble will also be performing outside Parr's Shop in London Road South to entertain crowds before the parade sets off.
The procession will be led by the Lowestoft carnival queen Jade Searby and her attendants Aneliese Rix and Chloe Smithson in the Lings Honda powerboat.
The carnival weekends kicks off tomorrow with the free Bands on the Green event on Royal Green from 12.30pm to 4.30pm.
The Long Eaton Militaires and the Ambassadors of Borrowash marching bands, which will be in Sunday's parade, will be taking part alongside belly dancers, the Lowestoft Signing Choir, the Southwold Corps of Pipes and Drums, the Waveney Valley Brass Ensemble and Lowestoft singer Leon Lambert with his band Unit 14.
