Unite members and workers from the port of Yarmouth will be joined by colleagues from across the country to protest about the dismissal of Yarmouth dockers.

Unite members and workers from the port of Yarmouth will be joined by colleagues from across the country to protest about the dismissal of Yarmouth dockers.

Unite members from Felixstowe, Thamesport, Dover, the Humber and Southampton will be gathering outside the port's South Quay offices at 4.30pm on Thursday to protest at the axing of the last 11 permanent dockers in Yarmouth, to be replaced by casual workers.

Victor Brazkiewicz, Unite regional organiser, said: "We are delighted with the support we are receiving from colleagues in other ports as well as the support received from the local community.

"At Yarmouth, the workforce is committed to continuing the campaign for permanent jobs and they have the total support of the union in their endeavours."
