Protesters to stand trial

FIVE people charged in connection with a protest at the Sizewell B nuclear power station will stand trial early next year.

Lowestoft Magistrates' Court heard on Friday how the defendants had all entered not guilty pleas in relation to an incident at the site on July 24.

Yesterday's hearing was told that the trial, due to take place at the magistrates' court, is likely to take place over four days during January or February.

Before the court yesterday were Melanie Harrison, 37, Peter Lux, 46, and 38-year-old Nicola Stickelles, all of Dunburgh Road, Geldeston. They were joined by Rebecca Dale, 34, of High Street, Ilketshall St Margaret, and Irene Willis, 63, of Buckland, Shoeburyness, in Essex.

They have all been charged with the obstruction/disruption of a person engaged in a lawful activity.
