A BLUPRINT that will guide regeneration in Lowestoft for the next 15 years has been published for public consultation.

The Lake Lothing and Outer Harbour Area Action Plan sets out the “long-term vision” for improvements to be made in the town, including new retail, leisure and tourism developments.

The document was drawn up jointly by Waveney District Council and urban regeneration company 1st East to outline develop-ments and planning policies until 2025.

The areas of Lowestoft singled out for consideration in the plan are PowerPark, Peto Square, Kirkley Waterfront, Brooke Peninsula/ Sanyo, the East of England Park and Kirkley Rise.

The updated draft includes proposals to build a hotel at Peto Square and making it a focus for shops, leisure and commerce; moving the railway station 80m west and 40m south of the existing location and creating a meeting point for taxis, buses and cycles next to the station.

Waveney's strategic director, Stephen Archer, said: “Following two earlier rounds of public consultation and discussions, this refined plan reflects our ambition to improve and regenerate a wide area of Lowestoft, creating a vision for the future of the town. We hope that our communities will tell us what they think of a document which underlines our determination to make Waveney a great place for anyone to grow up, live, work and visit.”

The plans support wider Waveney strategies including the creation of about 1,000 new jobs, particularly in the energy sector, 1,500 new homes, a town centre extension at Peto Square and better connections to the waterfront.
