FOR the past year young musicians at schools in the Lowestoft area have been rehearshing for their big day on the stage of the town's Marina Theatre.

On Wednesday there were no signs of nerves as the pupils put on a superb concert in front of an appreciative audience of proud parents, teachers and friends.

The project is organised by Suffolk County Music Service.

Sue Simington, senior manager at the service, said: 'The concert is the culmination of a lot of hard work by the pupils and we are pleased to work with the schools to provide such a marvellous concert.'

Among those in the audience was a Journal photographer who captured the excitement of the day.
