Pupils joined in on the last leg of a 200 mile cycle ride in memory of a beloved headteacher.

Kate Woodruff was the headteacher of Bramfield CEVC Primary School until she died of cancer last year.

In her memory, the Big Bike Ride was organised which saw around seventy cyclists take on a 200 mile challenge across Norfolk and Suffolk.

More cyclists joined along on the way, including children from the primary school who joined at Henham Park estate, near Halesworth, for the last eight miles to the school.

The funding gathered is expected to smash the target which was set of £10,000.

Taking part in the full 200 miles was Kate's husband Jonathan, while their children Charlie, Sam and Benedict also joined in on the last day.

Mr Woodruff said: 'I am feeling a bit sore but it has been a fantastic three days, everybody has thrown themselves into the event and the massive fundraising push we asked the cyclists to do has paid off.

'I am happy to see how many people have taken part in Kate's memory. We've had so many people offering their support along the way.'

The three day cycle route started on Friday from Bramfield to Hunstanton where cyclists stayed at a youth hostel.

The following day they took the sunrise coast to Great Yarmouth.

And yesterday, they took the final stretch to Bramfield Primary School.

The money raised will be split equally between St Elizabeth Hospice, which cared for Mrs Woodruff during her final weeks, and Bramfield CEVC Primary School, where a new early years facility will be dedicated in her honour.

Georgina Harrison, a friend of Mrs Woodruff and organiser of the Big Bike Ride, said: 'Kate was an extremely popular teacher and friend to so many, and the community was devastated when she died. I was amazed that so many people wanted to take part and at how many hours training were put into it, some of the riders are complete novices.'

After the ride there was a celebration at the school with barbecue, music and activities which was open to the community.
