RAIN is forecast for the east coast next week … but for once it is being anticipated to “lift your spirits” as a top musical hits town.

In another spectacular coup for Lowestoft's Marina Theatre, Singin' In The Rain visits the town to perform its only date in the region.

Featuring a host of some of the best loved comedy routines, dance numbers and songs, the national tour will play a five-day run at the Marina from Tuesday, July 21.

Olivier award winning West End and Broadway star Tim Flavin will lead the cast as Don Lockwood in the role immortalised by Gene Kelly.

Produced by the team behind hit shows 42nd Street, Disney's Beauty and the Beast and South Pacific the production features a host of hit songs.

And Singin' In The Rain will also see the return of a popular actress, Jessica Punch who wowed thousands of people at Christmas as she played Peter Pan in the town's first major pantomime in half a century.

Speaking ahead of next week's visit she said: “I'm delighted to be returning to Lowestoft after such a friendly and successful run there in pantomime. I'm looking forward to bringing the rain to the stage and enjoying the sun on the beautiful beach outside … the best of both worlds.”

A theatre spokesman said the show is “guaranteed to lift your spirits whatever the weather,” and tickets for the musical, which runs nightly at 7.30pm from July 21 to 25, with matinees on July 22 and 25, at 2.30pm, are available from the box office on 01502 533200.
