The cast and crew of the popular Reydon and Southwold Pantomime are putting the finishing touches to their latest show.
The group, who have been performing pantos since 1981, will present a rather different slant on a classic as Robinson Crusoe hits the stage in Southwold Arts Centre at St Edmunds Hall, Southwold.
Fun for all the family is guaranteed as the all-women cast of the Reydon and Southwold Pantomime Group line up for six performances between January 21 and January 27.
With tickets selling fast, it promises to be another fun-filled show as this award-winning panto is written and performed by local people as it raises money for local charities.
The group is performing its 38th panto since its first outing in 1981, and this production of Robinson Crusoe is reworked from a NODA award-winning performance by the group from about 10 years ago, with new twists.
Cast member Louise Harrison said: “We have been rehearsing weekly since September, and it has been going well.
“Audiences are promised a traditional panto with the odd surprise and plenty of twists – with pirate adventures and lots of fun. This is my 14th production and I have been involved in the panto or watched every one – its so nice for the community.”
With 18 cast members, plus backstage crew, the group includes Southwold, Reydon, Halesworth and Lowestoft residents. And this year the pato is produced by Brenda Doy, who is a founder member of the group.
Some of the cast from the 2018 Panto visited various sites in Southwold at the weekend and they caused quite a stir.
Louise Harrison said: “We have already had a great response from the public with ticket sales. At the weekend some of the cast spent a few hours walking around Southwold and Reydon, posing for photos, and vising local shops to raise the profile.
“It was great fun and links in with the community.”
The performances of Robinson Crusoe take place on Sunday, January 21 at 2pm and then from Tuesday to Saturday, January 23 to January 27 at 7.15pm with a matinee on Saturday, January 27 at 2pm as well.
