A new campaign backed by Lowestoft's three Rotary Clubs has added a spot of colour to the town.

The town's Rotarians are supporting the nationwide Purple4Polio campaign to rid the world of the disease and they have held a series of events.

As part of the campaign, the Lowestoft Rotary Clubs have teamed up with Waveney Norse, Lowestoft in Bloom and other local community groups to transform public spaces and brighten up the local community with the planting of purple crocus corms across the town.

Chris Trindall, the spokesman for the three Lowestoft Rotary Clubs, said: 'This photo shows one of a batch of crocus planted by local cub scouts in conjunction with Lowestoft Rotary Clubs as part of their End Polio Now campaign.

'As it has proved so successful it is hope to plant even more verges next year.'
