Hundreds of dictionaries have been delivered to primary schools in the Lowestoft area – thanks to the three town-based Rotary clubs.
Every pupil in year three at primary schools across the town has been presented with their own copy of an illustrated dictionary as part of an ongoing project to improve child literacy levels.
Last week the three local Rotary Clubs – Lowestoft, Lowestoft South, and Lowestoft East Point – handed out the free dictionaries, which have been sponsored by the Pye Foundation, Suffolk County councillors, Roger Harrod's Karpet and Furniture Kingdom, Red Hot Media and other local charities.
With the distribution co-ordinated by the local rotary clubs, this is the sixth year that the Lowestoft Dictionary 4 Life project has been run.
A spokesman for the Rotarians said: 'The children were all very happy to receive their dictionaries.'
