The meeting opened and members remembered the long serving and loyal branch member Florrie Say who had sadly died during the summer break, and also Majorie Hazelwood a loyal member of Lowestoft branch and the group chairman. Members had been busy during the summer break and thanks were given to Ruth for the coffee morning she held in her garden. Despite the poor weather and attendance 150 was raised for branch funds. The street stall outside Lloyds bank was blessed with lovely weather and 273 was raised. Thanks were given to all who contributed in any way to these events and also the husbands. In June chairman Sue marshalled at the F and J group rally and at the Newmarket races. All went well on both of these occasions. The financial statement showed a balance of 134.27 having sent a donation of 600 to the RBLWS National Benevolent fund and 100 to county funds. Members are now to be known as part of the Women's Section of the Royal British Legion not Royal British Legion Women's Section which will prevent them being confused with the RBL. Members are being asked to give their feelings on holding two get togethers next year, one at Wickham Market in March and a later one for the west of the county at maybe Horinger. Member felt this was not a viable proposition with fewer members attending each and double expenses with two venues. Notice was given of the Leiston Festival of Remembrance on Wednesday, November 4, tickets are 4 each. Sue gave a short account of the national conference where members were told they were doing wonderful work. This was endorsed by the Princess Royal who said she was aware of the work the members do and that they should be really proud of themselves. The new national chairman is Mrs Harper and the conference in 2012 will be at Blackpool in April 24 to 26.After savouring Peggy's delicious rusks and playing two games of bingo the meeting closed.
