A SAFE area for cycling and skating is being created on a previously overgrown patch of land in Southwold.Southwold Town Council was recently given permission by Waveney District Council to tidy up the Klondyke, opposite the pier, and now councillors and local youngsters are working to get the site ready for use by the community in time for the summer season.
A SAFE area for cycling and skating is being created on a previously overgrown patch of land in Southwold.
Southwold Town Council was recently given permission by Waveney District Council to tidy up the Klondyke, opposite the pier, and now councillors and local youngsters are working to get the site ready for use by the community in time for the summer season.
Work is currently under way to get the wire fence cut away so that it can be cleared up and the grass area can be tidied. A new asphalt surface is going to be put in place to cover about one third of the Klondyke so that it can be used safely for cycling, skating and games.
It is also hoped some beach huts can be removed from the area, where they are stored in the winter, so the grass area can be turned into a picnic site.
