New junction alignment markings and parking control measures have been put in place at a caravan site entrance in Pakefield.

The new measures, introduced this week, aim to help to improve safety.

It comes after local resident Tony Robinson raised his concerns with Suffolk County councillors for Lowestoft South Melanie Vigo di Gallidoro and Craig Rivett, as he sought to find a solution to the risk of accidents in Grayson Avenue, near the junction of Arbor Lane in Pakefield.

Mrs Vigo Di Gallidoro said: 'Mr Robinson was concerned about the danger to cyclists and pedestrians in the lane caused by the fast movement of traffic at the junction. A site visit was arranged with Suffolk Highways engineer Keith Sampson to recommend suitable calming measures. Now the work has been completed we are really pleased with the action taken by Suffolk Highways which should reduce the risk of a traffic accident.'

She added: 'Other work that the Highways team have also undertaken recently includes the completion of yellow lines on the Grayson Drive/Grayson Avenue junction, also at the Jolly Sailor's corner and new bollards outside the Deaf Association's Hall in Blackheath Road to which locals have now added flower tubs. Additionally Waveney Norse filled in the sinkhole on Pakefield cliff.'
