Pupils at one Lowestoft area primary school enjoyed taking part in a series of activities associated with a Hindu community.

Corton Primary School held a Hinduism day last week, and Jemma Dalley, Religious Education leader at the school in The Street, said: 'This was one of the three faith days which are held each year. All year groups join together and work in mixed age groups. These days are always special and as a school we find these days contribute to pupils personal, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.'

Pupils took part in numerous Hindu activities, varying from creating a mehdi design – a decorative pattern on hands and feet – to acting out the story of Rama and Sita.

Mrs Dalley added: 'The variety of experiences broadened pupils experiences and understanding of the Hinduism faith. Faith days provide our pupils with a set of skills, enabling them to be inquisitive with their learning.

'We are proud of our pupils having positive attitudes towards other people, who hold religious beliefs different from their own.'
