Schools in Norwich are being encouraged to move their classrooms to the cinema next month and take part in National Schools Film Week.

The annual festival, which runs from October 15 to 26, aims to get youngsters linking Hollywood blockbusters with their class work.

Across the country, 470,000 students and their teachers got involved in 2011 and organisers Film Education want even more for its 17th year.

Screenings will include The Hunger Games, North by Northwest and Frankenweenie.

University of East Anglia film lecturer Melanie Williams said: 'The students are able to see film in relation to their education, not just for film studies but within other subjects too. Film Week promotes how film can relate to various areas of the curriculum.'

Leigh Anne Walker, teaching assistant at George White Junior School, at Silver Road, said: 'The shared experience provides a useful focus for classroom activity.'
