A PONTIN'S Bluecoat has been plucked from more than 150,000 people as one of 12 singers to compete for stardom on this year's X Factor TV talent show.

Scott Bruton worked at Pontin's, in Pakefield, until only a few weeks ago when he was picked by Simon Cowell as one of three boys to represent him in the 14-24 category.

Tomorrow night, he will seen by millions of people as he performs on the live shows alongside other group members Austin Drage and Eoghan Quigg, who were also picked out from the six hopefuls Simon invited to sing for him at his Barbados home on the show's broadcast last weekend.

Scott, 19, originally from Manchester,

was given the song I Can't Make You Love Me, made famous by Bonnie Rait and George Michael.

The 19-year-old first became interested in music when he was 11 and sang karaoke.

When he was 14 he began performing on the pubs and clubs circuit, but after he had to drop out of drama college because of a lack of funds, he started a job at Pakefield.

He has had to resign to take part in the X Factor.

Competing against Scott will be Rachel Hylton in Dannii Minogue's over 25s category, Alexandra Burke, who is representing the 14-24 girls category, fronted by Cheryl Cole, and boy band JLS, who are being managed by Louis Walsh in the group's section. The X Factor live shows begin tomorrow evening at 7.15pm.
