Scouts offer plenty of adventure

HOW does the saying go? "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story" or something similar.

I refer to Rachel Moore's article (September 11) concerning the claim of the supposed banning of the use of knives by scouts.

I refer to Rachel Moore's article (September 11) concerning the claim of the supposed banning of the use of knives by scouts.

There had been a number of stories in the media over the previous week which the Scout Association strongly refuted.

Ms Moore asked: "Isn't one of the points of Scouting to offer boys and girls adventure …?"

The answer of course is “Yes” and that is exactly what our dedicated volunteer leaders do, week in and week out.

We still want young people to be able to join in the adventure that is Scouting.
