After 100 people enjoyed a classic play last month, Southwold Arts Centre and Southwold Library will team up once more to offer two exciting cinematic screenings.

With Southwold Library organising its very first Suffolk Libraries Presents event last month – with the screening of The Importance of Being Earnest – two iconic works will be presented in the coming weeks.

From the sell-out run at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre, Maxine Peake will star as Hamlet. It will be screened at St Edmunds Hall on Thursday, May 25 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. On Thursday, June 1 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm York Theatre Royal's The Railway Children will be screened – featuring a real steam train.

Library manager Charlotte Clark said: 'Suffolk Libraries Presents is an exciting project with Creative Arts East to bring recorded live theatre to Suffolk. Southwold Library is in partnership with Southwold Arts Centre to now bring these performances to Southwold.'

Tickets cost £10 (£8 for under 12s) and are available from Southwold Library and Southwold Arts Centre.
