Lowestoft's Seagull Theatre has received a £10,000 boost from the National Lottery for it to continue its work in the area.

The money will be provided by the Big Lottery Fund, which aims to give regional organisations the necessary resources to put towards projects that reinvigorate communities.

Seagull Theatre manager, Karen Read, said: 'This money will allow us to continue what we are currently doing with schools and the community.

'There is a lot of willingness for us to be here and lots of local people have been saying we've done some really great work.

'This lottery grant is separate from our £40,000 Raise the Roof campaign but it will help us to pay for the business and structural plans before the building is finally renovated.'

Over £1.3m has been granted to 33 projects across the East of England as part of the latest funding.
