A Lowestoft nursery is celebrating after being rated as Good during its latest Ofsted inspection.

Seashore Day Nursery, in Crown Score, received the rating after the education watchdog visited earlier this year.

Nursery manager Nicola Stubbs said: 'It was brilliant – the feedback was fantastic.

'All the staff are really happy, we work well as a team and the report reflects that.'

Ms Stubbs said part of the nursery's success comes from regular bespoke training which helps staff constantly evolve as carers and educators.

She also highlighted the importance of feedback from both the parents and children and said: 'It is all part of ongoing teamwork with the staff.'

During the Ofsted report inspector Helen Hyett praised the nursery for its quality of teaching.

She said: 'Staff share in children's enjoyment and motivate children to learn, for example, as they encourage them to scoop and pour water.

'Teaching is consistently good and the well-qualified staff make regular observations and assessments of children during planned activities and play.

'They use this information to plan focused next steps in the children's learning.

'Children develop good relationships with members of staff and they receive reassurance and cuddles when needed.'

Ms Hyatt also commended the children who attend the nursery and said: 'Children behave well at the nursery and are supported sensitively by staff.

'Younger children show high levels of involvement and enjoyment in the activities they choose and older children speak clearly in sentences and are learning to count and compare sizes.'

She also noted that children with disabilities were 'well supported'.

The report did go on to state areas for the nursery to focus on for improvement to attain an Outstanding rating.

Ms Hyatt said: 'On occasion, some staff do not consistently help children to explore ideas and develop their thinking skills to the highest level.'

The inspector said going forward the nursery must 'make to most of opportunities to help children express their thoughts and explore ideas further'.

The nursery is keen to rise to the challenge with Ms Stubbs adding: 'We continuously strive to move forward and make sure we better ourselves.'
