Lowestoft have been rocked by the surprise departure of Jack Ainsley.

The defender, who joined the Trawlerboys in 2013 and made 28 appearances this term, has moved to lower-level Leiston for an undisclosed fee after struggling to cope with the demands of National League North on top of his off-the-pitch commitments.

Blues boss Ady Gallagher told his club's website: 'It's always disappointing to lose somebody of Jack's quality.

'Over a prolonged period we have tried everything to help Jack overcome the difficulties he has faced but unfortunately he has made it clear he is no longer able to commit to the club. Regrettably this is the best solution for all involved and I can only thank Jack for his wonderful service and wish him and his family all the best for the future.'

Young keeper Ben Killip has however provided a boost by rejoining on loan from Norwich City until the end of the term.
