A FORMER Lowestoft hairdressing salon, in a prominent position facing Station Square, is being transformed into a one-stop-shop to offer information and support for young people.
The project, which is being driven by Suffolk County Council in collaboration with local groups and clubs, is redeveloping the former Kiss salon, in Bevan Street, into an advice centre.
The intention is for it to become a one-stop shop for young people, replacing Suffolk Youth and Connexions Service's current base in nearby Opportunity House.
It will offer even more services and support than before, with information on a range of topics, including careers advice, housing matters, employment prospects and personal issues.

It will be available to those aged 13 to 19, or up to 25 for those with additional needs, and open during weekdays, with the possibility of extending into the evenings and weekends based on demand.
Building work is currently underway to improve the layout of the building and its access, with plans to open the centre in the autumn. However, before this it needs to be named and young people are being given the chance to have their say.

Over the past few weeks, members of the young people's steering group, supported by the county council outreach and youth workers, have been out in the community asking for their suggestions. And after drawing up a shortlist of their favourite names, there is now just a fortnight for young people to vote for their choice.
The shortlisted suggestions are Solutions, Situations, The Junction, Pathways and Next Steps.
Voting is open to all those aged between 13 and 19 in the Waveney area.
To vote visit the Youth and Connexions website www.thesource.me.uk before Friday, September 11.
