More than 200 people from all parts of the country have already signed up for Great Yarmouth's second East Coast Run, which will start at 10.30am on Sunday, October 25.
More than 200 people from all
parts of the country have already signed up for Great Yarmouth's second East Coast Run, which will start at 10.30am on Sunday.
Race director Karen Manning, of Great Yarmouth Road Runners (GYRR), is confident that last year's entry of 400 runners will be topped by race day.
“It will be a mix of club and serious runners and members of the public,” she said.
The flat 10km course starts and finishes in St George's Park and takes in historic landmarks around the town and the regenerated seafront.
Charles Allen, exercise referral co-ordinator for the race's main sponsor, Great Yarmouth and Waveney NHS, sees the run as an excellent opportunity for people who take little or no exercise to have a goal to aim for.
He said: “It gives people something to focus on. We are also encouraging business and organisations to
enter teams that could use the
event as a fundraiser for charity.”
If 10km seems a little daunting, there is a one-mile family fun run around the park, which will start shortly after the main race.
There are several cash prizes for the East Coast Run, including two new ones - for a corporate team and a junior prize for entrants between the ages of 16 and 20.
Entry forms can be downloaded from the GYRR website www.gyrr.co.uk or the borough council website at www.great-yarmouth.gov.uk Forms can also be collected from the town hall, Maritime House, Marina Centre and local libraries.
