A MAN who stole shirts, a scarf and a flag from the Sir Bobby Robson memorial in Ipswich after the football legend's death has been jailed for eight weeks.

Jamie Underwood, 21, admitted stealing 28 shirts when he appeared before magistrates in the town last month.

The court was told that he was drunk at the time of the thefts and could not remember much of what happened.

But today (Monday) magistrates jailed Underwood, of Burrell Road in Ipswich, for eight weeks.

Former Ipswich Town, England and Newcastle United boss Sir Bobby died in July after a long battle with cancer. After his death fans covered his statue outside Portman Road with scarves, shirts and other memorabilia in his memory.
