A DUTCH yacht with six people on board had to be rescued by Lowestoft Lifeboat late last night.

The vessel, which was on its way to Lowestoft, suffered engine failure three-and-a-half miles off the coast, on the other side of the sandbanks.

Lowestoft Lifeboat was launched “in very lumpy sea conditions,” according to press officer Mike Richford, just after 11pm on Tuesday night.

The lifeboat passed a tow and slowly brought the vessel back to the town's port, arriving in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
