Remembrance Weekend saw the people of Southwold come together and salute those who have died fighting for their country.

On Armistice Day (November 11), numerous crosses were laid around the war memorial outside St Edmund's Church, before a period of two minutes' silence was observed at 11am and Rev Simon Pitcher led the congregation in prayer.

Remembrance Sunday began with the Southwold and Reydon Corps of Drums leading a parade from the town hall to Bartholomew Green.

There was once again a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial followed by a service at 10.50am in St Edmund's, which has recently been undergoing important refurbishments that are soon to be completed.

The event was, however, tinged with sadness, as the Southwold and Reydon Corps of Drums played at their last civic event due to a shortage of members.

The Corps, which was formed in 1981, was presented with a plaque at the service and thanked for their work across Suffolk.
