COUNCILLORS have asked for signs telling dog walkers to control their pets on Southwold beach to be improved in time for the summer holiday season.From May 1, dogs are banned from the resort's main stretch of beach but members of Southwold Town Council have raised concerns that signage along the promenade does not make the regulations clear enough.
COUNCILLORS have asked for signs telling dog walkers to control their pets on Southwold beach to be improved in time for the summer holiday season.
From May 1, dogs are banned from the resort's main stretch of beach but members of Southwold Town Council have raised concerns that signage along the promenade does not make the regulations clear enough.
Now Waveney District Council has agreed to check the location and provision of signs to tackle any problems before the busy season.
A spokesman for Waveney said: 'The writing on the promenade paving was refreshed last year and there are currently a number of signs as you approach the seafront and along the area of beach affected by Waveney's dog control order.
From May 1 to September 30, dogs are banned from the beach between the northern end of the promenade at the end of the beach huts to the East Street steps, just below the Sailor's Reading Room. From October 1 to April 30, dogs are allowed on the beach but must be kept on a lead. Dogs must also be kept on a lead on the town's promenade.
