THE Southwold lifeboat, Leslie Tranmer, will be in action off Southwold on Lifeboat Day tomorrow (Saturday, August 7). The sea rescue demonstration with local fishing boats and the Lowestoft lifeboat - the RNLB Spirit of Lowestoft - can be seen from the clifftop, the promenade or the beach below the Sailor's Reading Room from 10.

THE Southwold lifeboat, Leslie Tranmer, will be in action off Southwold on Lifeboat Day tomorrow (Saturday, August 7).

The sea rescue demonstration with local fishing boats and the Lowestoft lifeboat - the RNLB Spirit of Lowestoft - can be seen from the clifftop, the promenade or the beach below the Sailor's Reading Room from 10.45am.

The display will be repeated off Dunwich at 3pm.

There will also be a sandcastle competition between 10.30am to 2.30pm with an ice cream for each entrants and prizes of vouchers worth �10, �8 and �4 from Susies' Beach Caf�, which is sponsoring the event.

Alongside, will be a balloon race from 10am to 2pm. Professor Pulson is donating the proceeds from his Punch and Judy shows by the pier at 12.30pm, 2pm and 3pm.

The Souvenir caravan by the lifeboat station will also be open during the day, where there will be a display by Lowestoft Model Boat Club.

The Southwold and Dunwich RNLI is holding a book fair in the William Godell Sports Pavilion The Common, Southwold, on Saturday and Sunday August 14 and 15. CDs, DVDs, old postcards, comics and folding maps will also be available.

The sale will be open each day from 9.30am to 4pm. Admission is 50p, children free. There is ample parking, disabled facilities, a licensed bar and cafeteria - with all proceeds going to the RNLI.
