The meeting of L Group, RBLWS, Southwold and Roydon and South Lowestoft and Pakefield was held at Southwold RBL Club and opened with the National Anthem, exhortation and silent tribute. All the branches reported on their activities over the last three months. Southwold and Reydon had two members at the get-together at Wickham Market; one selling books the other clothes. Ann and Jack Robins ran a whist drive and made 101. Eight members attended the civic service and parade and chairman Sue Doy is the town mayor. The county standard bearer, Sheila Jeffery came from Newmarket and carried the branch standard for them. The Southwold ladies thanked them, also Joyce Ringer, from Horringer, who marched with them. Ann and Dennis Stanard and Sue Doy attended the national conference at Eastbourne and two members attended the weekend festival on the Saturday at Needham Market and manned two stalls. South Lowestoft and Pakefield had a meal at the Beaconsfield Club; they have had a lot of illness, so there have been small numbers at meetings. Everyone wished their chairman Marge Hazelwood back to good health. At the treasurer's report, 45 was given to each branch to help with transport to group meetings; the balance in the bank is 32.98. The county rep gave a full report. Books can be sent with sweets to the troops and the address is available in the Legion Box in the High Street under 4LB Free Post. For refreshments, members had made cakes and rusks, then the raffle was drawn. The weekend WS Festival at Needham Market was a great success. The auction of flowers made 92, the door 280 and 1,000 profit was cleared, so well worth the hard work for the benevolent fund.
