Special constable on driving charge

A Suffolk Special Constabulary officer has been summonsed to face an offence of dangerous driving following an Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) managed investigation.

A Suffolk Special Constabulary officer has been summonsed to face an offence of dangerous driving following an Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) managed investigation.

Special sergeant Mykal Trim, who is based at Lowestoft, has been summonsed in relation to a road traffic incident in the early hours of Saturday, February 14, 2009, in which a marked Suffolk police car was in collision with a Mitsubishi Evolution on Tom Crisp Way, Lowestoft.

The IPCC managed the Suffolk Police professional standards department investigation into the incident and a file was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service who determined that a criminal charge was appropriate.

The officer is due to appear before Norwich Magistrates' Court on Tuesday,September 1.
