Thousands of pounds were raised for school funds during a summer fair at St Mary's Catholic School in Lowestoft.

The event was organised by the school PTA and proved a success, despite a downpour at the end of the day.

Grainne Purvis, chair of the PTA, said: “It was absolutely fantastic. The weather held off for us right until 4pm when we got a downpour. The dog show at the end got a little bit drenched and we had to call the grand draw inside the school hall without the PA system but otherwise it was fantastic.”

The fair, which was held on Saturday and opened by Woody Bear, featured a host of traditional attractions including stalls, bouncy castle, coconut shy, stocks, martial arts demonstrations, cheerleaders and baton twirlers.

The proceeds have yet to be counted but it is believed the event raised more than £2,000.
