Stabbed football ace Calum Davenport is continuing to improve and has been chatting to his wife and dad in hospital.

A former Norwich City footballer who was stabbed is continuing to improve and has been chatting to his wife and dad in hospital.

West Ham defender Calum Davenport, who played on loan for the Canaries, has been moved from intensive care to a private room at Bedford Hospital, where his seven-months-pregnant wife, Zoey and dad Curtis are keeping a round-the-clock vigil.

There were fears dad-of-one, Calum, 26, would have to have a leg amputated after he was stabbed on August 22.

Last week the boyfriend of his pregnant sister, Carla, 28, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

Worrell Whitehurst, of Derby, has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on November 16.
