NOW, thanks to the excellent reporting of The Journal, a mystery has been solved - the tanker park that our beloved Suffolk Heritage Coast has become is being used for the transfer of vast quantities of oil from distant parts of the world at no cost to the oil transporters.

We are told too that this is the only stretch of coastline in England where this is permitted.

This is a barbaric practice with potentially enormous hazards to the people who live in and visit this beautiful part of East Anglia - and to the very coastline and precious habitat which sustains us all.

The people of Southwold are speaking out, supported by their MP. Surely it is time for the people of Lowestoft and Kessingland to do the same, supported by our MP.
