Stunning wildlife shot wins The Journal's weekly photographic competition
This amazing photograph of a peacock butterfly was taken by John Daynes of Lowestoft.
The retired teacher captured the image using his Sony RX100 camera on March 8.
Mr Daynes said: “I found the butterfly, which I assume had recently emerged from hibernation, lying in a pool of water in my garden greenhouse apparently unable to move.
“I moved it to a dry spot on a hellebore flower so it could dry out and warm up- hopefully it fully recovered as the next day it had gone.”
He added: “I took about a dozen shots. When I saw this one on the computer screen I knew I had got a shot which achieved all that I wanted. It is very satisfying to feel really pleased about a shot yourself and then find that others enjoy it too.”
As our winner, Mr Daynes receives a 12in x 10in framed version of his photo from Picture Studios, of London Road North, Lowestoft.
