FREEZING temperatures overnight has led to icy conditions on the roads this morning.

Wintry snow showers falling on Suffolk's highways overnight have frozen leading to dangerous driving conditions, warn Suffolk police.

The roads are currently clear of accidents but a police spokesman urged motorists to take care as they venture out during this morning's rush hour.

In the early hours of this morning a lorry came off the A145 at Sotherton, near Halesworth due to ice on the road.

The empty sewage tanker was wedged between two trees after skidding in the accident which happened at around 3.20am.

The male driver was taken to hospital by ambulance crews, his injuries are not though to be serious.

A forecaster at Weather Quest said today will remain cloudy with a few snow showers. Bright sunny spells will break through but temperatures will struggle to reach 3C.

Overnight plummeting temperatures will lead to icy roads and the wintry weather will continue into the weekend.
